Cat 5e, Cat 6 & Cat 6a

Category 5e (Cat 5e)

For many years Category 5 Enhanced (Cat 5e) has been the base standard for data cabling systems, although is now being considered an obsolete form of cable due to being superseded by Category 6 and 6a. However, Cat 5e can be an ideal solution for smaller sized networks due to its affordability and offers data transmission rates of up to 1 Gbp/s over 100 metre distances.

Whether you require a one-off single data network point for a small home network or need multiple cables installing in an office, Comfinity are experienced installing Cat 5e in both domestic and commercial customer environments.

Category 6 (Cat 6)

Many commercial offices, schools and other new buildings have adopted Category 6 (Cat 6) as the minimum for new cabling installations. This is due to Cat 6 provides greater bandwidth over Cat 5e and allows for high data transfer rates. As well as being able to easily support 1 Gbp/s network speeds, Cat 6 can also support higher data rates of 10 Gbp/s. However, 10 Gbp/s is with limitations over shorter distances on length of up to 55 metres.

From simple moves, adds and changes to the complete design and installation of Cat 6 cabling solutions, Comfinity can offer a tailored suite of services to meet your requirements in full.

Category 6a (Cat 6a)

The Category 6 Augmented standard (Cat 6a), has quickly become the most future-proof cabling solution of choice, supporting Power over Ethernet (PoE) and data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbp/s over 100 metre distances (including patch leads).

With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Comfinity are able to design and install high-quality Cat 6a cabling systems that are completely bespoke to meet customer specification, timescale and budget. All our cabling installations, including Cat 5e, Cat 6 and Cat 6a are tested and certified to meet industry standards using the latest Fluke testing equipment.
